𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐜𝐚 - 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟏

Becca is an extraordinary human - just read her answers below/ She is really chill, yet completely engaged in so many interests and also driven - I think I have a few things to learn from her. We had a magical night twirling in the field and reminiscing about shared experiences at Pantuso Dance and swapping stories about family. Becca, I am here cheering you on as you adventure into the world.

Maybe a little ironic, but I feel like the hardships of the pandemic have given me a lot to look forward to in the future. The excitement of leaving home and beginning university has definitely been overshadowed by the frustration of the pandemic. That being said, I finally feel like we’re all starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m so looking forward to reconnecting with people and starting fresh at university.

It’s interesting actually, but I feel that we’ve all adapted really well to how understandably plain our last year has been. The pandemic, the new term system, the ever-changing rules — even though we didn’t necessarily have a choice in any of them, I think we’ve made the most of our year and gone with the flow really well. Our whole class is also full of hard workers. In every single one of my classes, I’ve felt challenged and inspired by my peers.

This feels like a bit of a trick question after the last couple of years. If I’ve learned anything from them, I would say something about leaving it up to chance. But regardless, my plan is to pursue a degree in biotechnology at UBC over the next couple of years, starting this fall. For the summer, I’ll be making coffees over at Starbucks. And for now, I’ll be taking it one day at a time, finishing my high school career and enjoying some fleeting moments of sunshine.
