Jazz & Sidney, flower and fruit anniversary
On December 26th, 2017, Jazzlyn was scheduled for major surgery for colon cancer, and she didn’t know if she would survive and if she did, what her quality of life would be. She knew that she could live with her disabilities happily, however, if she became palliative, she would want to consider medical assisted dying, and if she were put on life support, she would want to terminate her life. It was decided that her parents wouldn’t be the right people to help make this big decision and the ideal person was Sydney, who moved out to BC.
Since almost day one
Rowan was first in front of my camera when he was just learning to sit up, and he was squishy cute then! I am not sure if he wants to be described as squishy cute now, but it’s the truth - he is still squishy cute. He is also super fun and funny. I super appreciated all our laughs and his patience with all of us as we captured photos.
Connecting for portraits
The ease and love that this family has with each other, the way they grab each other’s hands, the way they share laughs, and the way they seem to “just know” how the other is about to react and how they give space for each other, was so peaceful (and yes, I did just use the word peaceful for a family with two children under the age of 5) and fulfilling to witness.
Kicking of summer holiday family portraits
They were quick on the program to support small businesses because their hearts and minds are just like that - you know, the type that go right to being mindful of others, and wide open as to how they can add positivity to this world. And with that booking, they made a huge difference to my hope for the future of my business. It still touches me.
The Tinga Family, Comox Valley Family Portrait
While what you see here is a genuine joy - the Tinga has a big challenge in front of them. Carol was recently dealt the devastating hand of cancer. Carol was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and now the cancer has spread into her lungs. Treatment, including clinical trials for this type of cancer, is limited and Carol is seeking treatments that support her quality of life and wellness. Carol’s friendship and kindness has reached all corners of our community and now the community is helping her and her family through an auction page. The funds generated will help reduce any financial stress or burden, so she and her family can focus on treatments and enjoying time together. As my contribution, I created these photos for them.
